THE "STOLEN GUITARIST"
UFO IS A BRITISH BAND BUT WITH A REAL GERMAN ON LEAD GUITAR.
BRAVO TELLS A STORY HOW THE BLOND MICHAEL SCHENKER JOINED THE THREE BRITONS IN AN UNUSUAL WAY.

July the 18th 1973 was the blackest day in the history of a british rockband UFO. They were about to start their German Tour on that day but their leadguitarist Bernie Marsden could not find his passport. The boys left London without  the guitarist three hours before their first show they arrived in Regensburg.

"We wanted to play no matter what" – UFO Boss Pete Way tells the story.
"But the luck was on our side. We have had a german band Scorpions from Hannover opening for us. Their leadguitarist Michael Schenker was super, better than Bernie Marsden ever was."
It did not take long for UFO to consider: they took the guitarist born on the 10th of January 1955 in Sarstedt near Hannover on board straight away. "He was about to stay with us for a few days at first, but he played so well with us during the Tour that we took him to London with us."

Michael lived with singer Phil Mogg for the first two months there. In the meantime he has found his own place there.
"He will bring us luck. We will make it with him at last", dreams the bassplayer Pete Way. UFO are to be seen on TV – Show 'Music Today' on the 13th October – with Michael Schenker. And they tour Germany again in November. Scorpions are again their support-act – but his time with a New lead guitarist.
