CONCERT REVIEW: UFO - Springfield VA

Sample review:

If UFO is playing anywhere near you-GO!  Considered by many to be one of the world’s most underrated hard rock bands, the legendary UFO delivered.  The band flawlessly performed old hits & new tracks to a fired up audience...

...These road warriors, having played Europe & South America already this year, have crossed the pond to promote their latest album, Seven Deadly. They played their classics that have rocked us for forty plus years and tracks from their new release.  The years have not slowed them down, their raw, high-energy sound remains untamed...

...The next two songs, Fright Night, Wonderland, proves that they are still producing relative rocking music. This album should appeal to old and new fans alike and only serve to perpetuate the incredible legacy they have built. They continued to rock with the classics, Baby Blue, Cherry, Let it Roll, before sharing two more tunes from Seven Deadly, Mojo Town, Burn Your House Down.

Vinnie and Rob ripped classics as if they were the ones who originally laid them down. Only You Can Rock Me and Love to Love never sounded better. Vinnie’s renditions were perfect, exuding the energy of the iconic guitarists who preceded him. Rob’s driving bass lines and stage presence is a perfect fit.  Andy, a founding member was as enthusiastic as ever, thrashing the kit like a teenager.  Paul, who’s been around since ’77, handling all the keyboard and rhythm roles...

Video Interview with Spike

where he recounts how the Quireboys were doing their last rehearsal before splitting up when Phil Mogg walks in with two bags of beer, having

secured the band a support slot with Guns and Roses at Hammersmith Odeon. The band had no equipment, so Phil arranged for all the UfO equipment

and UFO road crew to support the Quireboys that night - Spike tells it in more detail and way better than me, so visit the site and play the video

Konzert: Rock-Veteranen von „UFO“ gastierten in der Posthalle

Rockiger Flug durch die Bandgeschichte

TRANSLATED FROM GERMAN:

UFO-Frontman Phil Mogg in Aktion

Sounds like a rock band, which now has under his belt already more than 40 years? In "UFO" this question of the opener "Lights out" in the Würzburg post hall is pretty easy to answer: Honestly, distinctive, edgy and catchy guitar riffs - with a concert in a relaxed club atmosphere.
Description: lick here to find out more!
These now carry back with three members of the original cast. The formative rough voice of Phil Mogg, Paul Raymond on guitar and keyboards, the unsung engine of the band, and Andy Parker, along with the tour bassist Rob de Luca form the rhythm rug whose driving drums. Diligent was de Luca on bass, not a pose from the mandatory program for rock Olympians from and provided along with the microphone stand acrobatics Mogg for the full-length stage choreography.

But no later than "Fight Night" from the latest CD, "Seven deadly" it was clear that the man is the new heart of the band left on the guitar. Vinnie Moore has given a new melodic and creative face of the band, the "UFO" is very good. A comparison with Michael Schenker power riffs from the early days is not really possible, because too different are the two guitarists. The hand-picked audience, which had abundant space for your own motor, it did not matter.

It went back in time through the band's history, accompanied by the virtuoso solos Moore. Phil Mogg proved to be good-humored frontman, was always small anecdotes from his life and the touring routine feed, put a beard competition between a fan and Raymond Gitarrenroady and spoke to another might be one of the inattentive seemed to him directly, so the re- knew what it was. After 90 minutes, mixed with proven and new song material was landing with "Too hot to handle" and the grand finale "Rock Bottom" initiated. To checkout the concert's family background was still eagerly demanded the "Doctor Doctor" along with "Shoot Shoot".

A couple of reviews from the UFO Brazilian Tour

UFO in Porto Alegre in Theatre CIE

UFO IN PORTO ALEGRE
12/05 - Theatre of CIEE

Review: Luiz Fernando Vieira

UFO: A lesson in Heavy Metal in Porto Alegre
With a long and dedicated career for over 40 years making music, the band stepped on British soil UFO gaucho first. How could it be different, devastated.

The show took place on Sunday evening, May 12th, at the CIEE theater, in Porto Alegre, was the second of a total of four national tour.

Formed in 1969 the band is considered one of the pioneers of Heavy Metal / Hard Rock, being frequently quoted in various biographies, which makes clear all his influence over much of what we, lovers of good music, consume.

With several changes LineUp occurred over the years, the band currently has three members of the original lineup, they are: Phil Mogg (vocals), Andy Parker (drums) and Paul Raymond (keyboards, guitar). Vinnie Moore (guitar) and Rob De Luca (bass) complete the field.
With a delay of 17 minutes, the show started exactly at 20:17. In it the band blended absolute classics as "Lights Out", "Love to Love", "Rock Bottom", among others, with more recent songs like "Burn Your House Down," "Wonderland," "Hell Driver", etc. .

During the show, one of the main aspects to my attention was the energy of the band, especially Phil Mog. The singer exudes charisma in constant dialogue with the public and ability worthy of the envy of many of his younger colleagues. The domain that this gentleman has something about his voice is simply stunning.

We must also highlight the role of Vinnie Moore. The guitar virtuoso joined UFO in 2003 and its task was not the easiest. Moore became part of a band that had reference to another genius of the 6 strings ... a "just" Michael Schenker. Not much, no?!

Although the styles of both are quite different, Vinnie Moore managed to put in a little UFO its DNA. This can be seen in the new LPs and especially in the materials of the past. Its versatility makes it suitable for producing another dynamic to the old classics without uncharacterized them.

Speaking of classics, among them following the news and the show remained at a high level until the great double for "Too Hot To Handle" and "Rock Bottom". Then the band withdrew from the stage during five minutes back in sequence to close it with a flourish. It was time for the encore.

Although we were in a theater, then audiences have ignored the protocol chairs, crowding standing in front of the stage, singing and vibrating to the sound of "Doctor Doctor" and "Shoot Shoot".

Analyzing as a whole, the show was excellent, nothing less than that. Maybe if there was a caveat to be made, it would be the size of the set (16 songs). Considering the universe of material that the band has, somewhere around 20 albums, that number becomes somewhat modest. However, obviously you can not blame them for having a collection so vast and qualified. Furthermore, the duration of the show was on average, bordering two hours with its end at exactly 22:12.

Set List:
• Lights Out
• Mother Mary
• Fight Night
• Wonderland
• Cherry
• Let It Roll
• Burn Your House Down
• Only You Can Rock Me
• Love to Love
• Hell Driver
• Mojo Town
• Venus
• Too Hot to Handle
• Rock Bottom

Doubles:
• Doctor
• Shoot Shoot

Review - UFO (Bolshoi, Goiania, 16th May 2013)

A little less than three years the UFO was first presented in Brazil and Goiânia, here thanks to my friend Rodrigo Carrilho, who has brought his Bolshoi Pub - the only venue in Brazil where we see the best of the hard and one heavy tasting Guinness "on tap" - in the heart of Brazil

Despite these and other great shows I have had the opportunity to attend the Bolshoi, the best they had seen, until yesterday, had been ... the actual UFO . Rodrigo warned me in the afternoon and by phone shortly before the beginning of the presentation, the band was very happy and peaceful - last show of the tour in Brazil and last presentation before the upcoming June tour through Europe, participating in some of the largest Old World festivals like Download and Sweden Rock.

Turns out that the band managed to outdo themselves in relation to 2010. Phil Mogg, despite 65 years recently completed, sang TOO! Vinnie Moore needs no comment, Andy Parker down the arm with the same arrangement of three years ago, and commanded Paul Raymond keyboards and rhythm guitar with the usual experience, while Rob de Luca faced the challenge of replacing Pete Way.

Not noted the setlist, but it was lower than the same 15 songs of SP and Rio, with one caveat failure in guitar sound Vinnie Moore during the execution of one of my favorite - Too Hot To Handle. Wonderland was, for me, a highlight, and dragged more heavily than the studio version, I commented on a review of previous shows.

At the risk of sounding repetitive, I await the return of the UFO touring to come. The fact - rare for a band as long-lived, with so much history and repertoire of classic stuffed - they hit more than one quarter of the songs coming from albums "was" Vinnie Moore, including three of the most recent evidence is undisputed that the UFO still has a lot of stamina not only to show off, but to create.

LIVE REVIEW: Teatro CIEE - Porto Alegre

TRANSLATED from Portuguese to ENGLISH:

I'm a big fan of the band, and when he learned of his first trip to Brazil (in 2010) did not measure efforts to assist Phil Mogg (vocals), Andy Parker (drums), Paul Raymond (keyboards, guitars, vocals) and Vinnie Moore ( guitars) in an unforgettable show in São Paulo, on May 26 of that year .

I left there with a dumbfounded overwhelming performance, and still more a fan of the band. Besides the group playing some major successes with surgical precision, charisma and friendliness of Vinnie Moore won me over, and since then, I began to seek his beautiful solo, and of course, learn more about the guy who just replaced Michael Schenker, and did so with such property which today can be said that no one misses the German quarrelsome and scowling.

The stage CIEE display lights for UFO | The magic hand of Vinnie Moore (Phil Mogg right)

And so I went, mail and baggage, across the Rio Grande do Sul in more than ten hours of travel to check closely all the energy of the group, who first came to Porto Alegre through the action of the great White Productions. The show took place at the beautiful Teatro CIEE, a venue small but very cozy, which makes the bands that play there much closer to their fans, making the show somewhat different.

No opening band and with a slight delay, the UFO took the stage with the aforementioned quartet and bassist Rob de Luca, great musician who replaced no less than Pete Way, forming the band there in the late '60s, when he is called Hocus Pocus. Luca strives to fill the stage, and plays very well, only that it is undeniable how the follies of Way on stage are absent. Face, we realized that the night would be different, because the weather in the airspace gaucho was conducive to close encounters of the third kind, and while not causing harm to the present, would damage their temporary overnight of May 12, 2013 .

The group entered while the speakers still rolled one rock sixties, already Mogg giving thanks and good night. Announcing that they would play "Some experimental rock 'n' roll music," Moore detonated the riff of "Lights Out", and so began the most intense two hours that the CIEE theater has seen.

An emotional Mogg again (and several were then), and thanked the audience too, and said plainly, "I never did this, but tonight I make sure to do this ..." and dropped the handheld microphone, calling a roadie for the stage and down the same toward the audience. I was one of those who helped Mogg down the stage, and he was very gratified, hugged fans, and earnestly asked the roadie who took a picture of it with the audience...

ANDY PARKER and PAUL RAYMOND

ANOTHER LIVE REVIEW: Carioca - Sao Paulo

Returning to Brazil, this time bringing the Seven Deadly album tour, the legendary band UFO appeared at Carioca Club in São Paulo on Saturday, May 11, to an audience that did not quite fill up the site, appeared in good numbers and was treated to a show exciting.

With over 40 years of activity, the group led by friendly singer Phil Mogg began his concert promptly at 19h of the house with the curtains opening and playing Lights Out.

Despite various configurations over the years that have a large list of musicians who passed through the band, the current lineup was very close-knit and is composed by Andy Parker on drums, Paul Raymond, who during the show alternated between guitars base and keyboard, Rob de Luca on bass, Vinnie Moore on lead guitar, and Mogg, only member to be in all the studio albums on vocals.

Of course many of you want to hear the classics and the band were seen responding with great excitement, singing or clapping. Such an attitude impressed Mogg that besides thank sang the whole show with a smile on his face, showing joy to be there with that crowd excited. Another highlight was the guitarist Vinnie Moore, charismatic, distributed reeds, knelt by the fans and showed great technique impressing gifts.

The new songs from the album Seven Deadly worked very well live and were well received, sounding just heavier than the classic songs of the band. But the excitement was greater in old songs such as Too Hot To Handle Rock Bottom or that ended the first part of the show with the right long solos.

Returning for the encore, the UFO showed its greatest classic Doctor was sung all over the house, in a few moments in this song, surpassed voice Mogg, covering the singer. And after her, Shoot Shoot, the group ended the nearly two-hour presentation that showed a cohesive band, like playing with and independent of age, able to excite a younger audience as an older audience with flair and enthusiasm.

TONIGHT: Teatro Odisseia - Rio de Janeiro

PREVIOUS CONCERT: Teatro CIEE - Porto Alegre

Ah, the good old rock'n'roll ... It was with this feeling, pleasant and longed for, I left the show Dinosaurs English band UFO, last Saturday, May 11, onstage at Carioca Club, headed by founder Phil Mogg gentleman.

Hard to imagine a band with 40 years on the road to keep the same energy and vibe, even after so many members who passed through all these years. However, Mogg alongside another founding member, drummer Andy Parker, and as old as keyboardist / rhythm guitarist Paul Raymond, showed amazing performance in this concert tour of the new work "Seven Deadly".

Ok, every fan wants to hear the classics and we knew we would hear a lot of this new album, but behold, the curtain opens and BOOM! "Lights Out", the eponymous 1977 - the best for me - and my eyes watered ...

Incidentally, the classics came bangers as "Mother Mary", "Cherry", "Let It Roll", "Too Hot to Handle", "Only You Can Rock Me", the fantastic "Love to Love," with its acoustic side and heavy at the same time, and a few pearls that ever, ever talk ...

Yes, yes, guitarists duty: the American Vinnie Moore is the perfect band footprint, technique and taste in soils with long wah-wah on improvisation as in "Rock Bottom", as we heard at the time of the UFO Michael Schenker .

Tell the way since 2004 in the band, it seems that Vinnie Moore, among other guitarists who passed through, it's definitely "the guy" to receive the baton of the German king. Contributing the compositions with striking riffs and solos fantastic, and virtuoso also has an interaction with the public very cool (throwing blades, taking the guitar to fans "touch"), showing stage presence and attitude. The same interaction was followed by bassist Rob De Luca with his iconographic Firebird.

The compositions of the album worked very well live, heavier than the classics - the band is adjusting the sound a bit more modern, but not without signing UFO. "Fright Night," "Wonderland," "Mojo Town" were direct and heavy, while "Burn Your House Down" sounded more light and pop - and that guitar tone!

"Venus" from "Walk on Water" (1995) came at a footprint and Hard Rock, like "Hell Driver" from the album "The Visitors", 2009.

Ah, the cherry on the cake: the aforementioned "Rock Bottom", with long guitar improvisations full of dynamics on bases stuffed Raymond De Luca and Parker. The encore: "Doctor, Doctor and contagious" Shoot, Shoot "for any fan find fault. It's all rock'n'roll, baby!

Interview with Vinnie Moore:

Leaf - The UFO comes to Brazil to promote his latest work, "Seven Deadly", 2012. For you, what is the main difference between the new album and the others already recorded by the group?
Vinnie Moore - I believe that this work is the deepest of our career and songs like "Angel Station" and "Burn Your House Down" show this.

The UFO has over 40 years of road and many "hits". For you, how important band in the history of rock and metal?
I think we were influential to many musicians. Artists such as Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, declare themselves fans of the band - even they put the track "Doctor Doctor" as opening act. Bands like Metallica, bassist Nikki Sixx, Mötley Crüe, including I've always been influenced by the musicality of the UFO. Probably this is a major legacy of the band, ie, have influenced many musicians and people in all these years.

Before you, the UFO had already influential guitarists as Michael Schenker, Paul Chapman and many other great musicians. How do you see its predecessors?
Always been a fan of albums like "No Heavy Petting" [1976], "Lights Out" [1977], "Obsession" [1978] and "Strangers in the Night" [1979], so the phase of Michael Schenker in UFO I always influenced more. Like even playing the songs of this album, which are very good.

And how is your relationship with guitarist Michael Schenker?
We toured together in the U.S. for many years, I think about 30 shows, but little talked us due to heavy workload. Nowadays we have a friendly relationship, besides the fact much like the way touches.

The UFO was born the same time as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, but did not become commercially equal to great bands mentioned. Why?
It's hard to control it in the music world. I love Black Sabbath, especially the album "Heaven and Hell", and also like the Dio as a singer and songwriter, but because they got bigger I do not know exactly. One factor was that when the band was growing, guitarist Michael Schenker left the band and it hurt when promoting the group. Furthermore, when MTV started, we did not do any video clip and then to succeed in the United States was necessary to have videos on MTV, so I think we were not as big as these bands.

You did solo tours in various places in the world with local bands and musicians. How do you select these musicians?
I usually get information from local producers, I pass these videos and music artists. I am fortunate to have played with so many talented musicians in all parts of the world.

In Brazil, in addition to shows with UFO you will do a small solo tour with Brazilian musicians. How is playing with musicians from Brazil?
All musicians who have played with me a high and I was really surprised with the quality we've seen in previous tours.

What is the main difference between musicians from Latin America, Europe and the United States?
There are more great musicians in the United States, now everyone wants to play rap or pop. I'm kidding, of course there are excellent musicians in the U.S., but I think the difference between these places mainly be in the way of playing and the passion for the instrument every continent.

Do you believe that in the years 1980 and 1990 instrumental music was more expressive than today?
I believe in the late 1980s and early 1990s, instrumental music was really great. Musicians like Jeff Beck were popular in the United States. Where did instrumental music focused on heavy metal, but I realized that musicians began to create more and more in this style and the fans were somewhat lost over time.

UFO - LAST NIGHT in Sao Paulo, Brazil - VIEW MORE PHOTOS

TONIGHT: Porto Alegre  - Teatro CIEE

ZERO HOUR have published a UFO feature, along exerpts of an interview with Phil Mogg.
Here is the feature translated:

One of the great hard rock bands, UFO plays on Sunday in Porto Alegre

Band formed in 1969 in England comes to the Capital

Group of the most important and respected hard rock, the UFO appears first in Porto Alegre, next Sunday at 20h at the CIEE theater.

Formed in England in 1969, UFO released their first album in 1970 and emerged as one of the exponents of hard rock from 1974 with the album Phenomenon and its classic lineup: Phil Mogg (vocals), Andy Parker (drums), Pete Way (bass) and German Michael Schenker (guitar), who left the Scorpions to join the British.

Mogg and Parker will be in the Capital, accompanied by keyboardist and guitarist Paul Raymond, who joined the band in 1976, and idolized by American guitar hero Vinnie Moore with them since 2004 - Away from the stage due to a kidney problem, is to substitute Way Since 2008, guest bassist Rob De Luca.

Much of the repertoire of the concert will be dedicated to classic seventies albums recorded in Phenomenon, Force It (1975), No Heavy Petting (1976), Lights Out (1977) and Obsession (1978), among them Doctor (who has won the cover Iron Maiden), Too Hot to Handle and Only You Can Rock Me, and tracks work with Moore - the latest album is Seven Deadly (2012). Zero Hour spoke with Phil Mogg. Check out excerpts from the interview:

Zero Hour - Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, Joe Elliot of Def Leppard, members of Metallica and many other musicians cite the UFO as an influence. How do you evaluate their contribution to the hard rock?

Phil Mogg - As with anything else, there will always be someone who has done it before you. What you do is pick up the pieces that you love, put in a blender, mix and ... ready, you may or may not have something that sounds new, fresh and original.

ZH - No Heavy Petting The disc had the Argentine keyboardist Danny Peyronel. You thought at the time to have fans in Latin America?

Phil Mogg - I had no idea. In those days, life began and ended at the Marquee Club in London, and Brazil seemed a distant and exotic. And if I think about it, continues today far and exotic.

ZH - The UFO recorded one of the most important live albums in the history of hard rock, Strangers in the Night (1979). What memories do you have of that tour?

Phil Mogg - Strangers was an all time high and really decisive for us. It was the combination of all records and touring we had done. We had the right band, the producer, the place and the right time. The Chicago crowd was hot.

ZH - This is the second time the UFO in Brazil, first in Porto Alegre. At a recent show in Glasgow, you played 10 classic songs of the 1970s and the five most recent. Does the same set list?

Phil Mogg - So you saw the future, because that is exactly.

ZH - Seven Deadly is the fourth album recorded with Vinnie Moore, who seems to have fitted perfectly in the spirit of the band. Why was he chosen?

Phil Mogg - He's a lovely guy. Vinnie has the right touch, the right temperament and arrived at the right time for us. We are all very happy.

ZH - Fans say the late 1970s, the era Michael Schenker (who left the band in 1978), it would be time for the UFO become a band with greater international success, which did not materialize. Any regrets?

Phil Mogg - The band found its way when Michael joined us and we were hired by Chrysalis. So follow our natural trajectory. So, no regrets.

ZH - Pete Way will return to UFO?

Phil Mogg - The chance always exists, but we have to see what happens. Our best thoughts are with Pete and his full recovery.

British graphic designer responsible for some of the greatest album covers of all time, died today, aged 69

Hipgnosis was an English art design group based in South Kensington, London that specialised in creating music album cover art for rock bands/musicians, most notably Pink Floyd, T. Rex, The Pretty Things, UFO, 10cc, Bad Company, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Scorpions, Yes, Paul McCartney & Wings, The Alan Parsons Project, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, ELO and XTC. Hipgnosis consisted primarily of Cambridge natives Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell, and later Peter Christopherson. Hipgnosis dissolved in 1983.

Hipgnosis gained major international prominence in 1973 with their famed cover design for Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon

"I’ve been lucky enough to catch UFO in my hometown of Bordeaux recently - for the record, it was the second UFO gig in
Bordeaux in their entire career, the first one being on the 8th of February 1983, quite exactly 30 years ago !
That was one of the infamous concert of the Making Contact tour with Billy Sheehan on bass

The 2013 show was really really good, to be honest, the best one I’ve seen since the You Are Here tour
(and I’ve seen them 4 times in between).

There’s going to have a review of the gig (1 full page) + 1 big live picture in the next issue of Rock Hard France, out around

Vinnie Moore Interview

Interview by Juliana Rosano - ENGLISH Translation

Vinnie Moore belongs to the same school of the great guitarists of the 80's and was one of the pioneers of the style shredding. He became known to the general public due to a Pepsi commercial, which led him to release his first album, Mind's Eye in 1986 and work with Alice Cooper Hey Stoopid disk. Vinnie was also one of the first guitarists to devote himself to teaching this instrument, with its video-classes of 1987 and 1989, classics of the genre. Currently, Vinnie is divided between his solo career and his work with the English band UFO. After the UFO show in Madrid last March 8th, we had the opportunity to chat briefly, but humorous, in exclusive for Hard and Heavy.

HARD AND HEAVY: Thank you, Vinnie, a pleasure talking to you and to the readers of Hard and Heavy Brazil.

VINNIE MOORE: Brazil? São Paulo?

HH: Yes! São Paulo, extamente!

VINNIE MOORE: Oh, thank you, I know more things in Portuguese, but I will not say here. (Risas)

HH: The tour started a little while ago, Feb. 21, what has been the reception from the public?

VINNIE MOORE: So far, all the shows have been in England, except for tonight here in Madrid and in France yesterday. And it has been very good, we always do very well in England, and these shows were awesome for us in Europe and so far has also been good.

HH: What are your expectations for the rest of the tour?

VINNIE MOORE: Which is better and that we continue to have fun and see lots of fans, all fans possible.

HH: You came to Brazil for the first time only five years ago to give some clinics. What memories do you have from a trip to Brazil?

VINNIE MOORE: I remember the "steakhouse", is that what they say? The Brazilian barbecue, beautiful girls and the fans, of course, very enthusiastic fans.

HH: Is there a Brazilian musician you like, guitarist or not?

VINNIE MOORE: You know, when I was there, I had been giving clinics and other guitarists opening for me and there are so many great guitarists in Brazil, unbelievable. There was this guy who opened one of my clinics, I am sorry, but I do not remember his name, but it was impressive. But overall there are excellent guitarists in Brazil.

HH: Are you in the UFO 10 years ago. Have you ever thought you'd stay so long in the group?

VINNIE MOORE: You know, I never thought about it when I joined the group. I think if you had asked me this before, maybe I would last 10 years, I probably would have said that you might not. But, we are continuously making new albums and touring and more touring and other records and more and it's been great. I really like all the guys in the band and the music we're doing and of course, play live.

HH: How do you balance your work with your UFO and solo career?

VINNIE MOORE: Uhh, no time for both. I just choose the right moment. When I'm making a break with UFO, I work on my own music. I have some new songs I'm recording, all batteries are already finished, I'm just working on guitars and hope to launch it in a few months.

HH: That was exactly what I was going to ask you now.... READ FULL INTERVIEW

TODAY - Travelling to Germany - Nürnberg for tomorrows concert at Rockfabrik

Concert Review and Photos from Razzmatazz 2, Barcelona - 10th March

ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

Razzmatazz 2 (Barcelona)

Viewing live UFO is almost a privilege today. Given the age of Phil Mogg, his voice remains intact after more than 40-year career. No doubt that the 1978 Phil is far from now, but remains well worth vocally and discs of UFO, especially since entering training Vinnie Moore, are to rise to the occasion.

With all this in mind, were attending on Sunday at the Razzmatazz 2 in Barcelona. Except some inroads into Apollo in recent years (his visits in 2006 and 2009 were in the mythical Parallel room), the band sounded much better this time. And it's weird because Razzmatazz 2 is probably one of the rooms with the worst sound in the history of live music. That the enclosure had a respectable entry (about 450 people) really helped the sound issue with certain body and definition, that's for sure.

While "Seven Deadly" is a record that compares to "The Visitor", for example, it is true that keeps intact the essence of the band. Vinnie Moore is surprising is that so fluidly coupled to the sound of UFO in the last ten years, taking into account the school guitarrera coming as a solo artist.

Today, one no longer misses Michael Schenker at all. Moreover, UFO hardly attract people because Schenker least not in the band, and also, I fear that it would be unrealistic to think of UFO in 2013 if the chaotic Schenker remain part of the band. All are pros and, as a result, the UFO today are a very well-oiled band, live sound and a good hard machine classic riffs.

His latest "problem" alcoholism and Pete Way was eradicated about five years ago and since then the band has revived a little more. We all remember in 2006 when they played in Barcelona UFO Pete Way and spent a good part of the show on the floor, slumped as if from the drunkenness of her life. Today we have a more professional band on stage and overall, better blended.

Barcelona's show began with "Lights Out", a song mode makes sure that everyone in boot situation around procedures. The public reacted accordingly, bursting into applause and jumping. Nothing like a good classic hard rock concert on a Sunday wake of drowsiness and leverage. In that sense, the UFO show was a lesson in how to please your most loyal fan base. But four things from recent years, the band turned to the classics that we all know. From the awesome "Love to Love" to the thug "Rock Bottom", to swing "Too Hot To Handle" or "Let It Roll", the set was plagued with issues UFO well recognized by all.

We can say that Phil Mogg is one of the great mysteries of speech. No one was able to guess anything he said during the concert when the songs presented. Well, lie. At one point warned the audience: "I think my career in flamenco is definitely finished." Razzmatazz Outside, workers unloading a big question mark neon fluorescent install someone had asked about the area oF public ...

The concert ended with, as was obvious, "Rock Bottom" and "Shoot Shoot", the show ended. No margin of error in a show of UFO and perhaps that is why we love them. They are safe value, as SAXON or DORO. Never have a bad show and never have a bad night. 9/10

Three Concert Reviews from Salsa Rockstar Live

Translations from Spanish

UFO: Sala Rockstar, Barakaldo March 9, 2013

The third time was the charm.

Finally, and I do mean finally, I have seen a UFO above a table. About time because they are many and countless visits gave us this legendary British training over his long career in this country. There have been two occasions where I almost see them but for personal reasons that are beside the comment in this space, I had to stay with the win. This new opportunity presented to me a few months ago was irresistible. As I learned the new dates of this tour I did not think for a single second and Agencie me a couple of tickets. Moreover, the idea of presenting them that fantastic "Seven Deadly" which pulled out of the hat last year, was another plus to add to move your ass and presented on Saturday at the Rockstar Barakaldo.

Well, after a couple of days and I can breathe easy. I settled an outstanding bill that went too over time, with a band that simply consider one of the best of his generation and are still in a state of enviable shape in studio and live. So we traveled to Bilbao on a beautiful sunny morning and then to Barakaldo to meet Phil Mogg and his...

Translation from Spanish

Concert Report: UFO + 4Bitten. 09/03/2013. Rockstar Live Room Barakaldo

As they met at the legendary UFO would not doubt Mr Brugat home and throw myself in eager to buy a pair of tickets. Not every day you have the opportunity to see a band that is living legend of rock and a price (20 euros early entry) significantly lower than the last time we saw them in 2009. But the best came two days before the concert. A friend got us a couple of invitations for a drawing for BBK, so the day of the concert sold two tickets in the queue at the box office for its 20 euro original and so happy to enter into. Comment that there was much tail box office all the time, which I suspect was due to the above drawing and discounts online through which you could get tickets for 14 euros. All this made the room present a look of almost full.

After the openers played great right out UFO that made clear with 'Lights Out' and 'Mother Mary' that was going to be great songs. The band rose from his usual lineup of Pete Way down: the great Phil Mogg spectacular voices in his 64 years, Vinnie Moore on lead guitar, Andy Parker on drums, Paul Raymond on keyboards and rhythm guitar and Rob De Luca on bass.

The band came to present his twentieth album (reportedly soon!) Entitled "Seven Deadly" which we heard "Fight Night" and 'Wonderland'

...UFO got on stage by 9PM. The gig was awesome!! Much better than the ones I’ve seen in California in 2011!! I wasn’t taking notes but I remember they opened the night with Lights Out, from their last album they played Fight Night, Wonderland and Burn Your House Down, from The Visitor they chose Hell Driver (my favorite), among classics like Cherry, Only You Can Rock Me, Love To Love, Too Hot To Handle, also Rock Bottom of course with an incredible guitar solo from Vinnie Moore and on the encore they played Doctor Doctor and Shot Shot. In between the songs Phil humorously talked to the audience while taking sips of beer. He was really in a good mood that night! And I couldn’t believe when they recognized me from the US tour in the middle of the crowd!

TONIGHT - France - Bordeaux - Theatre Barbey

Review - Madrid, Spain (8th March)

Trnslation from Spanish to English:

Sure that you all have had a friend (or a friend) when in this metal empezabais few years older than you who had their wisdom and advising you to get started on this journey. In my case there were two, and Luis Eduardo whom everyone called the Luigi. The Luigi had what we call "the theory of the four pillars" I think I have ever told. He argues that the NWOBHM stands on four pillars, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep. I remembered my colleague Luigi on Friday seeing UFO because after the great show you dialed think it's time to claim them as the 5th pillar, I will comment to Luigi to see what you think and I commented. They were born the same year as Uriah Heep, in 69 and just a year later than the other three pillars and yet I think it's a band that is not remembered and mentioned as a pioneer with the frequency of the other 4. I guess the departure of Michael Schenker few years fell into the darker than the others but after seen this past week in Madrid I think it's time to rethink the story.

UFO is the band that Michael Schenker reveals that only 19 years old he joined the band in 1973. UFO is also the band where one of us, a Latino (you know who I am adamant that we have called from Mariskalrock Metal New Wave of Latin) sat their keyboards, Danny Peyronel talk of Argentine that joins them in the 75 (after landfall, as you all know, in Spain to enter Banzai years later) Subsequent meetings left us new joys as the meeting of the original band (Mogg, Schenker, Way, Raymond and Parker) who turned 95 in that year Simon Wright (AC / DC) on drums.

Since 2003 we have in the flying saucer on guitar nothing more and nothing less than the great Vinnie Moore, now in tessitura least in its early neoclassical solo albums, more hard blues and putting the guise of Michael Schenker with spectacular results, if had to make a list of the top ten all time axes believe me, Vinnie would be in it own right. A guitarist stylish, technical and good looks, all this and much more is American.

The band keeps returning occasionally as 2004 with Jason Bonham (son of Led Zeppelin drummer) on drums. Serve these little notes for us to see that what we were seeing was pure history of Heavy Your latest album is Seven Deadly (2012) recorded the room with Vinnie Moore.

Let us focus on the concert. Announced in Caracol the sudden closing of this (hopefully reopen soon and, of course, in addition to our support our revulsion to Madrid following a town hall restricting musical culture, hopefully see the light and finally understand that a concert is a cultural event and the live music is the cornerstone that makes you love her and should be enhanced to maximum) all we have and all that we longed to see the hosts of Phil Moog pending Internet to see which saturate the bolus. In the end as you are counting on the group invited Arena 4Bitten. As you know on Friday I do the radio show on this website Rockcinante and between that and the evening was wet and that always stuck Madrid makes my arrival in the room is just to see UFO can not see or even a theme 4BITTEN The Greek band opened the concert. I apologize for it and the band and the promoters (Ana Laballo is inflexible with this, and he's right, if you must be accredited to report on time, I do not understand it otherwise but she knows I have and sometimes I program impossible, thanks for understanding)

When sound marked the first chords of "Lights Out" and the Arena breaks into a cry of welcome, the atmosphere is great, great night, better atmosphere than in 2009 which is the last time I saw them in the capital kingdom. The training we all already know who will know except for since bassist Pete Way distanced himself several bassists have fluctuated. In Madrid bequeaths a spectacular Rob de Luca who was the founder of one of my favorite bands of the 90 U.S. SPREAD EAGLE those who always say they deserved much more recognition.

For the second item, the room was already screaming UFO delivered in perfect English (which imply owed to Phil we knew good English and was very talkative and joking with the audience. Their favorite pastime was watching the public and seek similar with famous musicians to put on his glasses once to look better.

Continued to fall the great songs of the band getting better feeling between band and audience, they looked comfortable and that made we were leaving a concert master. Vinnie and Phil brings us that the engraving mobile, I think, my English is going to Gibraltar and little else (and this because the English there if you do not speak Spanish serves) to a taxi driver Andalusian flamenco singing without cutting us put in the micro.

Phil talks or mobile now down no strength at all what we are seeing, on the contrary, make public communion is narrower band to which must be added the good vibes of Vinnie, as always, exhausted Barbed its provision giving to the rock.

As if this were not enough face a momentazo chaining her performance in "Let it roll", "Only You Can Rock Me" and "Love to Love". Imagine delirium. It is in this area, "Love to love" when we notice the important work of lefty Paul Raymon quiet that handles the keyboards and rhythm and shines in this topic but since then I can not help admire the work you are doing for ringing that sounded like, holy glory.

We need to have the recognition it deserves the lord of the sticks, the other member Andy Parker founder with Phil, who embroidered the night.

When finished with "Rock Bottom" does not move anyone, we all know that we have "the doctor and shoot shoot" but requests one wanting, people have enjoyed it and that is a full-blown concert. Vinnie appears with a bowl full of ... tine? At least I think that we pounce on it to catch and see a handful of Smarties, Vinnie shared it all, does not fit a single spike
(must ask for the public to touch) and catering to their treats us
gives, that big!

Doctor Doctor rings and "Shoot Shoot" to put finishing touches on a magical night where UFO, for this writer, leave your request signed to be the fifth pillar of the NWOBHM and I bought it.

Seven Deadly Review

TRANSLATED from Spanish to English:
There are a couple of disks that because of time I wanted to comment in 2012 and only now I look upon it. What else to say about this British group?. Not only do not stop: continue releasing albums enviable level. Influenced Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Michael Schenker had with them in their ranks, have a turbulent history but full of impressive albums (many reviewed here). Basically I would never listen to that UFO that go straight to their first live album, the "Strangers In The Night" as it is like a greatest hits of the 70s succeeded tremendously.

That was in 1979 and "Seven Deadly" is from 2012. In this training we have here at STEEL vocalist Phil Mogg, Andy Parker on drums and Paul Raymond on keyboards / viola rhythm. The already mentioned Mogg is undoubtedly who calls the shots in UFO for years had the wisdom to call Vinnie Moore (De tremendous track record, Vicious Rumours, solo albums and follow signatures) when Schenker planted for the third time (if not I counted wrong).

From "You Are Here" far society has grown from low to high and that child was already a very enviable quality, Vinnie revitalized the music of a UFO that turned English hard rock to a rock with nods to things of the blues / Southern. "Seven Deadly" is an album more dynamic and less serious than its predecessor "The Visitor", with vital and vibrant themes (The streak opener "Fight Night" and "Wonderland").

The other ten songs keep that line, for moments and slow jam session ("Angel Station", "Steal Youself") in other fine blues ("Year Of The Gun" and the bonus track "Bag O 'Blues"). The main star here is Phil Mogg that nearly sixty-odd years singing just a little more serious than in the seventies and no charges over the years. The other is the same Vinnie Moore dispatched here with his best performance since joining guitarrera UFO. A must if you like hard rock. And Pete Way?. Already in the previous album not recorded by health problems and is missing in action here (apparently had left the band and is said to walk in cool ... with Schenker). One of the best albums of 2012 and suggests how many young bands fail to record with high quality ... UFO after almost four decades not to keep your name up to the legend that is.

4Bitten - UFO -
The rock on a pedestal

Half an hour later, at a quarter past nine in the evening, stepped on the stage of the legendary UFO Caracol room, led by its fireproof vocalist Phil Mogg, worried all evening to please the hundreds of fans that come with the band where they touch.

"Lights out" was the theme manager to open the case of the musical essences, followed "Mother Mary", "Fight Night" and "Wonderland", the latter two rescued from his latest album to date, entitled " Seven Deadly ".

The guitarist Vinnie Moore, which changed several times as an instrument, would make us share his particular taste for Spanish music and sounded a theme in your mobile Flemish recorded by Mogg microphone.

Trivia aside, did not miss his appointment required topics "Let it roll" song that Steve Harris himself reiterated his particular liking for their fellow concert in Madrid, "Only You Can Rock Me", the mellow and loaded sentiment "Love to Love", "Too Hot to Handel" or "Rock Bottom", with which put an end to an immaculate performance in which no lack of instrumental delights

Guitarist Vinnie Moore, Paul Raymond, the guitars and keyboard, Andy Parker on drums, and Rob De Luca, on bass, that did not stop delight with their poses and good work on stage that parting thereby achieving its predecessor and founder, Pete Way.

A minute later the five musicians returned to the stage to delight us with an exquisite interpretation of their biggest hit "Doctor Doctor", a song that the audience sang deliriously finally, ten minutes later, with the brilliance of "Shoot Shoot".

A performance that not only did fans of UFO but rock music.

4/5 Concert Review from London

...UFO entertained their fans mostly playing old hits like Let It Roll or Love to Love, but also aired tunes from their most recent album Seven Deadly, which mixes heavier riffs with more melodic pieces.

The group saved the best for last with Rock Bottom, the last song before the encore, which featured Doctor Doctor and Shout Shout – both iconic records from their heyday. UFO have most certainly still got it!

Came across this website, makes really interesting and very detailed reading, with daily entries, covering all types of entertainment and insight into many famous people. I have published the full days entry, although not containing all relevant UFO, I felt it was right as the site is copyrighted (Copyright © 2001-2013 raysgigs.com) and I wanted to help promote the site, rather than just rip-it. So enjoy the entry which contains the forum part.

05 March 2013. I went to a gig and magazine party tonight.
First was UFO + 4Bitten live at The Forum, London.

Support act tonight were 4Bitten who hail from Greece.A female vocalist with a nice blues rock voice. They played some decent tracks from their new album "Delirium".

I first saw UFO way back in 1976 at the original Marquee Club when they had Michael Schenker on guitar. I saw them play Hammersmith Odeon in 1979 and 1980 on the back of the success of their fantastic live double album "Strangers In The Night".

UFO are on stage for 1 hour 50 mins playing a few tracks off the new album "Seven Deadly" and loads of classic gems from their heyday era including Lights Out ,Mother Mary, Let It Roll,
Only You Can Rock Me, Too Hot to Handle, Rock Bottom, Doctor Doctor and Shoot Shoot.

Three original members still in the band including Phil Mogg on vocals who has nice relaxed stage banter with the fans.
UFO still rockin' and a great show.
The band travel to France the next day for a show then others in mainland Europe. They return to the UK to play The Download Festival June 15.

Full UFO setlist played....
Lights Out(played twice as Phil Mogg said they cocked it up first time)...Mother Mary...Fight Night...Wonderland...Cherry...Let It Roll...
Burn Your House Down...Only You Can Rock Me...
Love to Love...Hell Driver...Venus...Too Hot to Handle...Rock Bottom...
Encore:...Doctor Doctor...Shoot Shoot...

See www.ufo-music.info
See www.mamacolive.com/theforum for upcoming gigs at this venue.

then 11.15pm
was a random meeting and chat in Camden with me old mucker Noel Fielding. He has just come back from Los Angeles where he was hanging out with Russell Brand and Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones.
then 11.30pm to 12.30am
was the 10th Birthday Party for New! Magazine at Gilgamesh, Camden, London.
A big crowd here of mainly females for this party for the UKs best selling weekly
celebrity based magazine.
The complimentary drinks and Krispy Kreme donuts are still flowing.
New! columnist Peter Andre is still here along with some other reality tv folks but Amy Childs and Chantelle Houghton have left when i get there as the event was 8pm to 2am.
Everyone got a goodie bag of mainly female items and a copy of this weeks New! magazine.

LIVE REVIEW

Onto the headliners, UFO were pure class. For me they always stood apart from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal crowd due to the more melodic nature of their songs and itís due to this that tracks written late 70′s early 80′s still hold their own today.

Stalwart lead singer Phil Moggís vocal range is still potent and his libido doesn’t seem to have diminished, judging by the amount of sexual innuendos in his between song banter.

Skin pounder Andy Parker puts drummers half his age to shame, being expertly complemented by touring bassist Rob De Luca they provided a solid rhythm backbone throughout the gig.

Paul Raymond fleshes out the sound with guitar and keyboard overtures making the whole thing sound massive. But special mention must go to lead guitarist Vinne Moore whose fingers are a blur on his guitar fret board as he adapts Schenkerís guitar parts on the classic songs and makes them his own. He really shines on the new album Seven Deadlyís tracks making them absolutely killer live!

UK's HMV to close stores in Birkenhead, Speke,
St Helens and Warrington

SAD TIMES - I visited the hmv store in Speke, Liverpool and everything was marked down - Store was set to close

HMV stores in Birkenhead, Speke, St Helens and Warrington are set to close.

Administrators Deloitte announced it was to close 66 of the chain’s stores in a move set to cost nearly 1,000 jobs.

Deloitte said the shops, including those in New Mersey Retail Park in Speke and Birkenhead's Pyramids shopping centre, would continue to trade
but the closures were expected over the next one to two months.

Administrator Nick Edwards said the shops had been identified as part of an ongoing review of the company’s financial position and the grou
still hoped to secure a future for the restructured business.

He said: “This step has been taken in order to enhance the prospects of securing the business’ future as a going concern. We continue to
receive strong support from staff and are extremely grateful to them for their commitment during an difficult period.”

The group, which currently has 220 UK stores, called in the administrators last month, but hopes of a rescue deal have been raised after restructuring
firm Hilco – the group behind HMV Canada – bought the company’s debt.

Its stores in Liverpool One and Chester will remain open.

RECEIVED this snippet from a fan:

"Would a -U-F-O- be complete without a screw-up? Had to happen, 10 seconds into opener Lights Out, Moore's guitar went..gone! They battled as Raymond covered things aptly, nearly to the end of the track when Mogg had word with each band member, turned to the audience as said "That was a monumental screw-up - lets do that again". From there on, great... Probably the best ALL around performance I have seen from the Vinnie Moore era. The sound was immense, crystal clear, punch, power and volume where required. Mogg pretty much sang everything spot on,..wow. One thing is for sure, the SEVEN DEADLY and VISITOR material sounds 100% better live, slightly jigged and embellished.

Thanks to Ken Adam for the following Review:

Ok Peeps, I apologise I should have written this last night.....my review of the opening show of this tour
Firstly in a fantastic venue, just down from the Roman Baths, I would say about 3/4`s full, crowd was ok, but not as loud as in other venues.
First on was 4bitten, a Greek band who totally rock from what I saw, great female vocalist, worth getting to the shows early to catch these guys.

Now on to the main event, UFO arrived on stage, around 9.20pm and left around 10.50pm, an hour and half of pure brilliance.
I have watched UFO for a long number of years and I have not in my time seen them play better. The sound was spot on Phil, well what do you say, or what can you say, vocally amazing, how can he sound so good??? He was witty, as always note and word perfect as was the rest of the band. Vinnie was as always superb, Paul, again crystal clear sound from the keys, Mr Parker, awesome on drums and Andy I will catch up with you tonight re discussion of Blue Mearle collies!!.

So onto the set list, here we in order;
Lights Out, Mother Mary, Fight NIGHT, Wonderland, Cherry, Let it roll, Burn your House Down, Only You Can Rock Me, Love to Love, Hell Driver, Venus, Too Hot to Handle, Rock Bottom. Encore Dr Dr, and Shoot Shoot.

Highlights, Phils witty banter, and the whole set list.
Off to Bournemouth now, even more excited

You can catch up with Ken and his UFO journey on twitter

On Air: At The BBC 1974 - 1985 (5CD + DVD)

Planned release date is 26th March 2013 on the Chrysalis label

Details

Hard rock pioneers UFO are one of the UK’s most prolific and influential rock bands - their musical influence can be seen across a host of modern metal groups and during the course of over four decades they have built up an extremely loyal and dedicated fan base.

Spanning 5CDs, a DVD and a massive 52 remastered tracks, UFO ‘At The BBC’ collects together all of the legendary group’s BBC appearances from their first session with Bob Harris in 1974 through to their epic live set at Knebworth in June 1985. Accompanying the 5CDs is a DVD presenting UFO’s various BBC TV appearances (all previously unreleased), beginning with 2 tracks from the Old Grey Whistle Test from January 1979, continuing with 4 Top Of The Pops appearances from 1979-1982 and culminating with 3 performances from the Oxford Road Show, 29th January 1982.

The 5CDs and DVD of UFO ‘At The BBC’ come housed in a clamshell box, with each disc presented in individual wallets and accompanied with a booklet featuring a brand new interview with Phil Mogg (co-founder and lead vocalist) and Paul Raymond (keyboardist/vocalist).
